"The central theme of my work is "What is a home?", or rather "Is there a home? "
The artist Val Wecerka, originally from Bulgaria, now lives and works as a freelance artist in Vienna, Austria. She studied painting, graphics and tapestry as a master student with Christian Ludwig Attersee (diploma 2001) and free and experimental artistic design as a master student with Barbara Putz-Plecko at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (diploma 2005).
Val Wecerka's works are influenced by her own biographical experiences. Initially, she could only communicate with her parents from Vienna via letters. Inspired by this, she creates abstract signs or structures. She is also attracted to the colour blue, which represents the sea and her longing for it.
Val Wecerka's artistic work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, in the Kunsthaus, in public and private institutions worldwide. These include the Haus Wittgenstein and the Museum Quartier in Vienna, the Galeria Zero in Venice, the Muzej premoderno umetnosti in Slovenia or The Brick Lane Gallery in London.

In my art, writing is recoded into geometric forms and thus acquires countless other meanings and perspectives.
