About the artist
My passion is eyes, which I use in isolation as affective and evocative objects to create anthropomorphic sculptures
Born in 1965, the Milanese architect has always cultivated a passion for manual creations. His main themes include playful objects, kinetic art and Leonardo's machines. The realisation of eyes at all scales and of different breeds of animals is his latest passion. Eyes are used in isolation as affective and evocative objects, for realistic animal portraits and to create anthropomorphic sculptures with a vintage and ironic flavour.

Stefano Prina has always cultivated a great passion for artisanal creations. His workshop, active since 1984, is a hybrid between a design studio and a workshop of yesteryear, where the ideas of architects, set designers, artists who want to be accompanied in the creation of an object and are sensitive to its material and production aspects take shape at the earliest stages of conception.
In his practice as a model maker and creator of mock-ups and prototypes, he loves to combine traditional and innovative materials with a wide variety of processes, seeking the best synthesis between the technical properties of materials and their aesthetic potential.
His areas of interest include playful objects, kinetic art and Leonardesque machines.
The suggestion underlying these small, entirely handmade artworks is that of the eye as a centrifugal force capable of attracting and sustaining the light and positive energy of what surrounds it, a kind of organic mandala for a meditation on the nature of living things.
In recent years he has exhibited 10 works at the Municipal Aquarium of Milan, participated in two AAF in Milan and one in Amsterdam, exhibited in various studios in Milan and Paris with sculptures made of mixed materials and found objects. He was selected by the jury of the Zoommaginario in Turin with a work on the theme of fantastic animals.
He won first prize Arte Naviglio in the sculpture category in 2016 and a special mention at Orticolario 2017 for an installation of 30 wooden whales hanging from old trees.
In 2018, he was selected to represent Italian Artistic Manufacture at the International Fashion Cultural and Creative Industries Expo in Wenzhou, Shanghai.
