Nikolaos Schizas is a Spanish-based artist whose paintings have been exhibited nationally as well as in Greece and Canada. Through his vivid works, he expresses feelings that come from the subconscious, especially deep-seated fears and repressed emotions. In his artistic process, Schizas most often uses acrylic, spray paint and resin on canvas.

Barcelona-based Greek artist Nikolaos Schizas creates dynamic abstract paintings that radiate with bright splashes of colour and convey a strong sense of movement and fluidity. He is inspired by the urge to explore unconscious feelings and repressed emotions. Mixing acrylic, spray paint and resin, Schizas uses a range of methods from spraying, pouring and dripping paint directly onto the canvas to using a mixture of traditional brushes and unconventional tools such as palette knives to make sweeping, gestural marks. Self-taught, his work expresses a natural and intuitive passion for the materiality of colour and an instinctive appreciation for emotionally charged colour relationships. His fresh and vibrant aesthetic moves between Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism and Pop and seems to come from a dreamlike and mysterious world.
